Further to a previous message.  Sorry but the system will not allow me to download the picture as it says it is too big.

So I guess I will never know. :'(

Hi Marian. What host do you use to download your pictures? Have you tried reducing them in size?
I use Photo Manager here is the link http://www.hpphoto.com/servlet/com.banner.MbrSignUp?com=usBanner&signupjob=new&awp=mbrshp.html

It’s an easy way to reduce pixels, a pixel size of about 450x300 should be acceptable but I have posted pics as high as 650x433 with no problems. ;)

And make sure the picture is set at 72dpi, if it's higher e.g. 300dpi then the file size will be over 200kb.

Me thinks it is an ivy, don't know which, but what I do know is once an ivy becomes mature, it produces fruits, and that is what you have there.  I also believe reading somewhere that once it has started producing fruit, it is no longer a climber but a shrub/tree and behaves accordingly.

Definitely Ivy berries. The birds love them and you will have nice ivy seedlings all over the place, just to give you something to weed out when you have nothing to do in the garden. Emma is correct in a way. When an ivy reaches a certain height it becomes an adult and as such it changes its nature. The leaves lose their ivy shape, it produces flowers and then seeds. Also if you take cuttings from the adult section of an ivy it grows as a shrub rather than as a climber.

Many thanks to everyone for finding out what the plant is.  I did not for a second think it is ivy !!!
If I had a bigger garden, I would definitely take cuttings but as it is too small, I will leave it well away.  This photo was taken whilst walking our dog in the countryside.  My husband thought it was elderberry as it looks similar.

Can you make wine from this ivy plant ?? LOL
