Alan Romans is good but as always with spuds factor in the delivery cost carefully.

Personally nowadays, unless I need an unusual variety,  I buy from a local supplier where I can hand select tubers .. more plants and clean tubers every time!

Don't do postal spuds due to excessively high postage costs.  Buy all mine from my lottie shop as they work out around £2.20 for 3kg; or local Potato Day in January for varieties we don't sell.

Potato Day.  It's a good event.

Might be useful for spuds?

I've ordered from Alan Romans and would certainly recommend them - you get really personal service. Excellent range of varieties when you want something different to the same old lottie shop selection. The nearest potato day to me is down in Suffolk and by the time I've paid my petrol costs to get there its cheaper to pay the postage and know that I'll get what I want without having to fight in a rugby scrum. (Would love a potato day if anyone wants to arrange one nearer tho'  ;D)
Personally would avoid T&M like the plague - know too many people who have had trouble with them, specially on potatoes.

Alan will be at the Garden Organic Potato Day http://www.gardenorganic.org.uk/events/show_event.php?id=632 and supplies all the seed potatoes for the event.

I'll be there on the Saturday if anyone wants to pop in and say Hi!

Yes..I've had good and bad lots from them..couple of years ago I spent back aching amount of money just to get good selection of all sort of potatoes..and about half of them were not good..specificly the mayan types were all seen better days and I lost most of them before they were even planted....I received them January ::) I'm sure they were sent that early so they could actually full fill the order..who cares if they will store any further ::)
And there whole order came then in bits and bobs..and in unconvient times..like some earlies bit too late for planting ::)
Now I'm not going to bother with them anymore with spuds..you pay premium money for crap service...and the end product is not any better than from local suppliers. I shall not 'burn' my fingers again..

I ordered several varieties from him last year, very pleased with delivery and potatoes. I'd be happy to order from him again but this year I've ordered some form Tattyman.

I think if I were closer to a potato day I'd love to go and do my potato shopping and save on postage  :)

I think Tattyman suplies Alan Romans so they should be cheaper.   :-\        ;D ;D ;D

Phew - I didn't think Alan Romans was giving a shoddy potato service!
