Sorry, can't help but I thought I'd 'bump' your post.  :)

How is your mum in law now?

Will the hospital physiotherapy dept be able to advise you ??

Is there any way you can get these via your local council? I know when my mother had cancer they provided all sorts of stuff to help - which we then returned to them after her death.

I had one for my husband which was provided by the local social services.   Do try to get one through them if possible. The beds are  very good but expensive.   Perhaps you could try the neibourhood office for infomation.   Good luck.

I have one and I wouldn't be without it - but my supplier messed me up with the delivery so I wouldn't recommend them even though the bed is fine. I find it much easier to get out of bed if I have raised the head and I raise the end section when I need to rest my poor knee. I've been looking into getting a motor scooter too - but as long as I can still drive to the supermarket to shop I shall keep my car. A scooter wouldn't get me to the out-of-town supermarkets.

If your mother in law NEEDS an electric bed it will be the responsibility of either the social services or the health authority to provide one. But that is only if she has a medical condition which makes it necessary. She would have to be assesed as such. If you are looking to make life more comfortable for her then they won't sorry- otherwise I guess half the population would ask for one!! We treated ourselves to Hulsta electric bed a few years ago and it is wonderful as it has separate mattresses, so you do not disturb the other persosn when you turn over.
