Why do the stems on sweet pea flowers always get smaller the longer the plants flowers?  :)

Its all to do with energy Twoflower. As the plant gets older the stems get shorter. Now you have made an old lady depressed ;D

                      "What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
                    "Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"
