Do carrots need covering as soon as they are sown?

Lottiman

I have two more rows sown not up yet will fleece these. Others going on bonfire!

When I thin my carrots I chop some chives around so the carrotfly cannot smell the carrots..and I only lift the mesh up small portions at the time..no open doors or invitations.. ::)..don't know if it really works does make me feel more secure about my carrots....but cannot complain..it's either the mesh or both but I rarely suffer with those little blighters anymore..
Without mesh..no chance..

No they don't..but I do..I'm not going to give birds a chance to get my seeds or cats to mess my rows..so I put cover on straight away and hope best that nothing is going to disturb them... ;)

I got the best carrots in an old deep cucumber frame 1/3 filled up ,so the carrotts had a wall around them and soft soil to. I could put the lid on if need be and that did well in the winter.

When God blesses you with a multitude of seeds double  the blessing by sharing your  seeds with other folks.
