I have two dwarf pear trees on my allotment (same variety)  i planted them 2 yrs ago.
They did not produce any blossom last year but did this year.
The problem is that the fruits that were forming have all suddenly withered and fallen off!
Can any one tell me what the problem is and how to rectify what has happened so that they produce fruit to maturity next year.

Thanks in advance for any advice.
Regards malcolm. (I am in West Yorkshire)

The tree's probably still too small to mature the fruit. Give it time, and if you find that when it does fruit, it stops growing, be prepared to pick all the fruit off for a couple of years while it gets more established.

Yep..I agree with Robert...I think pears are even slower than apples to establish..I have some pears that were planted same time than one other lot of apples..it has taken 2 years longer for pears to do anything worth while.. ::)..but once they start..there is no stopping them.. ;)

They may have been caught our by the late frosts.

Oh what a shame - better luck next year.

Grab some bifenthrin product and grease bands too. I got caught twice this year, I got the winter moth because I was too lazy to grease, and then pear midge, so all the fruit is turning black and holed  :-[.

Ignore me I'm having a breakdown.
