I have seen some thing similar advertised before.

Surely this is just training the runners up some support.  Does the stem of the runner stay viable and continue to nourish the runner or will you have to supply some growing medium as you train them upwards?  Will the original plant be exhausted after a few years as with 'normal' strawberry plants so they will need to be replaced?

Quite a few questions to be answered methinks.
