Climbing strawberry plants (new product available)

Though this could interest some who wish to grow strawberries but need more room.  Apparently these are climbers that will grow up trellises etc.  Look promising initially:

I have seen some thing similar advertised before.

Surely this is just training the runners up some support.  Does the stem of the runner stay viable and continue to nourish the runner or will you have to supply some growing medium as you train them upwards?  Will the original plant be exhausted after a few years as with 'normal' strawberry plants so they will need to be replaced?

Quite a few questions to be answered methinks.

As well as "The world’s first climbing strawberry!" there is also this remarkably similar variety which has been around since the 1950's.
