I knew it! I was on the plot the otehr day, and there was a mob of bees round an empty hive. It's become an annual event, so I knew a swarm was likely to move in. Sure enough, I was on the plot today, and there was a good-sized swarm in residence.

I take it this was a hive that contained some previously used brood comb?
You couldn't make it up!

My oldest and nastiest comb, which was waiting to be melted. The smell is what attracts them, along with the availablility of a suitable space. I left them on some decent stuff, obviously.
