Alys Fowler's allotment!

I don't know if the girl is serious or following Joe's lead but sounds like she has allotment???!!! :o
National Geographic mag has 'green' supplement where Alys is writing about "how to make most of an allotment"...oh, please... ::)
And when has she time to do one..she has her own edible garden..she forages around everybody elses..she catches poor Georges crops from his lottie...she does pottering about in GW garden  and does appearances in Shows...writes into magazines...oh year..following Joe's foot steps...
In magazine there is Alys in her garden....pictures about her garden..couple of pictures from prize-winning allotment sites..none from her lottie, yet she mention that "her allotment was covered with weed membrane with a layer of couch grass growing through it"... ::)
Sooo...let have it!..Who is having Alys as a neighbour in lottie? ;D

Lasagne gardening  ??? What next Pizza gardening with lots of toppings ::)

Doesn't she make it look so easy?

And yes she has couch grass problems as you saw between the garlic.

All the cardboard in the world wont gret rid of couch it will grow horizontally until it gets to the edge of the 'topping' oops! sorry lasagne layers!

Then when her courgettes & squashes send their roots down this will create a passage for the couch rhizomes as you saw with the garlic.

BTW she missed the main reason for earthing up!

When you earth up you get more potatoes because you keep covering the stem which sends out roots which form more tubers,

I'm all for inovation but thats not my idea of inovation!

To be fair, TeeGee it's not the first time we've heard about lasagna gardening on this site!  ;)

Well I for one applaud Alys.  We might not like what she does or says but if she encourages one or two people to take up the challenge of gardening then good for her.  I also see that she kindly makes a cup of tea for the cameraman so I think that might be her husband.  Her 10 minute allotment slots are also on the gaurdian (on purpose) site so i don't think they will be over taking GW or Beechgrove.
