I once spent two hours in Steve Rothwell's office in order to write an article about watercress. He's every bit as passionate about watercress and salad leaves as everything I've ever read about him suggests and he had an answer for every question I could throw at him!

He's made bagged salad leaves respectable again after the food scares of a few years ago and he's done it by being both specialised and thorough, from the science through to the production practice and the marketing. A whirlwind of a man!

Nice that he's seen fit to share his knowledge with those of us who like to grow our own...  :) Now, I wonder if there are other commercial producers out there whose expertise we gardeners could learn from? I can think of a soft fruit grower who could impart a secret or two... That said, sometimes, it's the learning by trial and error that's most fascinating.  ;D

I stroke all my indoor raised plants to simulate the wind blowing them.  It strengthens them up for when they do go outside.
