rotating in the same bed

This is not about trying to sleep while OH snores!
I did a search but couldn't find the answer, so here goes...... I'm planning on growing some veg in a small bed in the back garden- it's an irregular shape, but I think I could fit in a few potatoes, some dwarf runner beans and broad beans,and a very small number of broccoli,  leeks and parsnips.  I've been reading up on rotating, and I have a plan, but won't the soil all get a bit muddled up  when I'm growing things so close together?  Do I have a chance of making this work? Also, I had a small accident today involving the spade and the red bit (crown?) of the rhubarb.  Have I comitted murder?

Rhubarb is tough, as long as you have a couple of buds it will be fine.

I have wondered the same, gm. Did Geoff Hamilton have anything to say about it when he did his cottage/ornamental garden series? Particularly when some flowers cause problems themselves for rotation eg wallflowers being the brassica family. And don't people tend to put wallflowers in the same place year after year? Perhaps it is best not too think too much!!

The only flowers will be sunflowers and sweet peas, plus there's a clematis gtrowing on the fence, which I hope won't be a problem and a japanese quince.   Do you think they'll like living with beans etc.? work?

I did get the SFG from the library a while back- maybe I should reborrow it!

I wouldn't worry about it. You'll have such a variety of plant material all the bugs will be confused anyway.
And next year you'll probably shift them around again somewhat.
