I planted my Rockets today in the soil not in the containers. Lady Christl are beginning to show as are Kestrel. Both earthed up as snow is forecast for next week.

Mine are still under their plastic bottles but some are now starting to fill the 5 ltr ones.  I think I shall have to let them out soon.  Apart that is from the one I dug up early on to see whether it was growing ok.  Yes it was but I knocked off the growing tip.  That will teach me not to have an insatiable curiosity.

I have got two rows of spuds gone in now, They are Charlotte and Exquisa.
I have used a buy from the shop and chance they do not get Blight as they are not selected seed.
If I get three from each plant then this will be ok as I am only doing this to see if they grow and are edible.

Got them back now to put some tread on them

The danger there is virus not blight, but you'll probably be OK. I've planted shop tubers myself this year; it usually works fine.

Just noticed the 3 Arran Pilot planted in raised bed on 6th March, which were earthed up are showing a couple of leaves. I've just covered them a bit more as light frost last night  :o

The comparison plants in the polytunnel border and a few in bags in the greenhouse are predictably much further ahead.

The ones in my back garden are going well, every time I cover them with soil they are showing again two days later.
The ones on the lottie are nearly as quick and the ones direct in the ground are just showing.  ;D ;D ;D

'earthed' mine up today with pure leafmould, should have some clean spuds!!
You couldn't make it up!

Moved my 4 great big pots, each with 2 Charlottes in , to the new lottie, they will get more light there, showing green a bit I didn't plant them very deep . later regrretted that,so I had a feel  and they seemed  fairly compact so I moved them lower in the pots, they are in very soft soil so I don't think I did them any harm.

Hopefully the blooming squirrels won't turn up there, but I couldn't keep the pots in my bedroom any longer!!

Mortality

All my other spuds are growing now  ;D
Please don't be offended by my nickname 'Mortality'
As to its history it was the name of a character I played in an online game called 'Everquest'
The character 'Mortality Rate' was a female Dark Elf Necromancer, the name seemed apt at the time and has been used alot by me over the years.

OH my sounds like mine are romping ahead. they have been earthed up right up to the top of the bag now and have leaves about 2ft tall above the bag.
