Harmful to chickens???

Morning!!
I am in the final stages of building my new chicken coup and run area so I can increase from 3 birds to 7. I would like to plant a tree in their area to give them some shelter and make it more interesting for them. Are there any trees I should stay away from? Also I was going to put wood bark down in the run to stop it getting to muddy, is this ok?

Hiya, Jono..we use wood chip in our hen run, the chooks love it  ;D
can't help with the tree but good luck with your hens  ;D

yep me 2 with wood chips i also have 2 fruit trees in my run
