Same thoughts as me Duke. So I have googled the answer and found several sites where people have asked and answered the same question.

It seems that it is perfectly fine to freeze them but it is suggested that one either freezes each individually or marks on the container the quantity so that the  memory is not left to again malfunction and prove unreliable.

Yes, they do make meringues
Royal Icing
Angel food cake
and are particularly nice used in cocktails

Bring them to room temperature before using and do not defrost in the microwave is the tip from one contributor.

Another said freeze them raw, do not whip them first.

There is a farm in the US with a site which pre-separates eggs and sells them in either yolk or whites frozen.

I once watched a cookery programme with the Roux bros (80s Ithink) and they said frozen egg whites make the best soufflés and meringues.   Since then I freeze them in groups of 3 or 4 and come summer, they're very handy for a Pavlova impulse and don't leave me wondering what to do with the egg yolks.
