In all my years gardening I have never had to put on the sprinkler in October until today-  the drought continues.

The shape of things to come??

I can't remember the last time we had any proper rain in Leeds, we've had the occasional bit of drizzle in the wind but nothing that would actually soak the earth and watering the garden on a cold autumn evening isn't much fun!

Digeroo

Very dry indeed here.

Sowed some carrots at the end of the second week of August and they have never seen the rain.

Had a teaspoonful of wet here the other day.

Its been very dry here too, I'm still having to water the plants in pots in the garden!

Being a bit of a saddo, I jot down the weather at the bottom of my diary each day,  :P  on the 1st and 2nd of Sep we had a few showers and up until now we have only had one day of rain in a month.   :o     ;D ;D ;D

The stream at the bottom of my plot has dried up.

A sharp shower on 1st September, lovely steady rain from noon till 7pm on the 2nd but since then - not a drop and all but one of my 6 water butts are empty. Even the scattered showers forecast for Saturday will not be enough to keep my celeriac happy. Hey ho - it looks like I'll soon have to use expensive tap water.

I, too, keep a record of the weather here in Torbay. It is often quite different to other parts of the country.

My two main water butts are empty. :( We have a couple of mm forecast for tomorrow but that won't make much difference.

Out of rain water, grass hasn't be mown since June and is now white, soil is bone dry a whole spit down. They keep saying it will rain in a few days and then as the day arrives the rain slides a few days further off.

grawrc

We have had what looks like a respectable quantity of rain overnight but not raining now although it is heavily overcast and the air is full of humidity.

The very occasional minute drop of liquid floated in the damp air this afternoon. Anyone know any good rain dances?

That's not sad, Kev, that's normal. I've done it for years. One of the "old boys" on our site has weather records going back to when he de-mobbed in 1946. (Which way the wind was blowing, too!)
