the idea of  not banging the doors etc while a cake is in the oven, really does not apply today, it was back in the old day's when our Mums, well my Mum, maybe your Grandmums had to cook with the old blacklead kitchen range.
Heated by a coal fire to one side of the oven, if  doors were banged etc it would course a slight vibration which in turn would course the burning coals to shift there fore giving a change in oven temperature.

I remember this well from when I was a child and still to this day if I am cake baking, it's always, "don't slam the door, or don't jump about" .
I am a bit too long in the tooth to change now.   ;-)))) qahtan

Well I tried again and am certainly getting better.  It did rise but not as much as I had hoped. Tastes OK though. I didn't add baking powder. .....  :( :(

Borlotti ... believe me ... use all the ingredients ... chuck them all in a bowl and beat ...  then cook !!

I do agree about fan ovens  ... if you can turn it off do so !!

Will have to go make cake and take pic !!
