I stopped with the patches after smoking 40 cigs a day for 40 years. You go girl ;D
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

tonybloke

the 18 hr patches worked for me, still a smoke-free zone here!! (40 a day type 'til jan 1st)
if I can..................... ;)
You couldn't make it up!

Thanks all

Today has had its ups and downs but I have managed so far.  Just had dinner and thats a killer, my favourite f*g of the day.  I'm on the 18 hour patches too and I have a nasal spray that I found really good last time for when I get a big craving.  So it has been just over 24 hours since my last roll up and I have to say I am gagging   :)

Good luck to you too Darren, my PCT won't do zyban any more I found it really good  ;D ;D

Good luck lushy.  Although I have never smoked I still feel I can understand how hard it must be for anyone who does to give up.......I have been on enough diets!!   However, you obviously really do want to give up as you keep trying....... so all I can offer is my support.
Just jump on here and chatter when you "feel the need".  There'll always be someone here to distract you.

Remember when you give up to never ever just have one or it will be back to smoking again.   This happened to me in 1969 when on holiday and a friend said one won't hurt.  By the end of the holiday I was back to being a smoker again and all the torment of the previous months was in vain.  I finally gave up in 1974.

Good luck Lushy and everyone else who is in the process of giving up.

Good luck!

Giving up is easy..done it dozens of times ::)

Agree with the previous poster..one slip and you're back to square one

I managed six years once

On hols tomorrow and will have another attempt when I come back. Would be great if this thread could keep going....a bit of moral support and swop tips

lushy86

Well, I'm dieting too.  Thankfully there are lots of free foods on slimming world because I am getting serious munchies  ::)

We are off on hols with another family in a week and I would have been the only smoker - hence the timimg of this attempt as it should be a help I think.  Must say I'm finding it very tough this time

I was smoking 40+ a day up until around five weeks ago I was given 24hr patches plus an inhalator which I'd put one refill in per day, after 10 days I stopped the patches and went on to two refills per day, I'm now one one refill a day but I think thats mainly so I can keep the inhalator!!

I think the main thing thats helped me is keeping the money I would have spent on cigs and putting it to better use, 40 fags per day = £10 or £70 a week or £3650 a year, just think what help £3650 each year would be!!! plus smokers stink and thats a fact.

Glad to hear you're still managing Mick...  :)
As Beanqueen says... "giving up is easy" my mum did it hundreds of times.. you'd have thought with one lung she'd have stuck to it... but never did. Caught up with her in the end....  :(

lushy86

Well I was only spending about a tenner a week on bacci but even so its still a saving and I don't stink any more.  I remember seeing the table you bought on your thread Mick so well done for keeping it up. Finding it much harder this time, it seems so pathetic but I am really agitated.  I really really hate this addiction  >:(

I read somewhere that sprouted seeds help when giving up smoking. Can't remember how though but if you're on a diet or get an attack of the munchies I should think they would be very helpful.

Good luck - i kicked it finally 5 years ago - still get tempted occassionally though. Usually down the pub after a few beers. Luckily I did it without patches, gum or any other help. I think I finally wanted to give up rather than want to want to give up (if that makes sense)

Glad I did it but every cold I got for the first few years gave me a hacking cough. I suppose it was all the crud coming out
