can anyone suggest something I can sow over a grave which will be attractive but ok to mow? It's a graveyard which is all grass over the graves so regularly mowed. I just want something a bit different from grass but that will survive a mowing. Am happy to sow in a greenhouse first or straight out.

What about Daisy or is that too ordinary?

First you should find out if you need to obtain permission to plant anything & you would need to work out how to stop whatever you plant from spreading through the rest of the graveyard.

Self-Heal can be attractive, don't know it's proper name.. but as Baccy man says check as they may use lawn weedkillers...  :-\

We have put crocus bulbs in mum and dads grave they come up every year and cause no problems for mowing, we also do pots of plants to put onto the grave and they come home and a new one goes on when needed, that way you can ring the changes all year, in winter we put dwarf conifers and pansys in a pot.

Thanks for the suggestions, like the daisy idea and may put some crocus bulbs down too.

There's a variety of thyme that used to be used for lawns in days gone by... not that I remember... google it for info if interested.
