That's sad news. He always seemed a real gent. I liked to listen to him on Radio $ Gardeners Question Time....a bright chap with a nice line in humour

I remember the name , my late nana used to talk about him.  She was a devoted gardener.  Sad news. :'(

Mr Smith

Caroline,
I did a search on A4ALL  before I posted about GS and nothing came up I only found out today, I think he was a really good gardening presenter in fact the best for me, :(

Digeroo

I loved Geoffrey Smith.  He was so enthusiastic about growing veg but also eating it, I hope they repeat his programmes.

Mr Smith

Sawfish,
Thanks for the link GQT really enjoyed the tribute to GS, :)

sawfish

I'd love to find some archive of old radio gardening programmes.

Mr Smith

Sawfish,
Totally agree I well remember Percy Thrower and later on Mr Smith, please BBC lets have those programmes out on DVD, in my case it was innocent youth along with collecting bonfire wood and doing a paper round and collecting Matchbox cars, :)

I have been emailing the BBC for years to repeat Geoffrey Smiths vegetable Garden, but they have not yet once replied to any of them Even tried Points of View but still nothing -  not really surprised as the likes of the BBC are only interested in make overs and plonkers to present third rate  gardening programmes. Thank goodness I got Victorian kitchen Garden to watch
