They'd have a heart attack if they came to our site.   Everything on our site is built from odds and sods,  new and old.  Somebody else's rubbish is anothers goldmine and all that.   ;)

they even frown at you on mine if you put your hand in your pocket and if you happen to buy somthing you have to hide it in the shed for three month then say this old thing had it ages

the article reminds me of a story one of the old holders on my site told me about. 
Sometime in 1970's there was a full blown blood feud between the families of four plot holders.
The result being, all 4 plots being burned to the ground.

Nearest I get to staff is bribing my 15 year old daughter who HATES going to the allotment to do something for cash....but she will only do something that doesn't involve getting mucky which limits things a bit! Can't bribe my son anymore who is keen as he has his own plot to sort now! :-\
