Ive just made two new compost bins out of old pallets is it best to line them if so what with or just leave them open

Mine are made from pallets too and I'm in the process of lining them as I find they dry out too much otherwise with the through airflow.  I'm using some spare geotex but you could use weed suppressant or old compost bags or any other plastic big enough.

Pop a Moriati bag inside the pallets and you have the perfect compromise.

I wished I had lined mine when I first started (two big pallet bins). I put lots of perenial weeds in with the knowledge that I would have to leave it a couple of years, however I now have a lovely lot of compost with bind weed growing through! I am moving it to a) to another bin that excludes the light and b) to closed rubble sacks, so hope that I will still be able to use it at some point in the future.
What is a moriati bag?

Those big bags that builders' sand etc is delivered in. There's a website about using them but I can't find it.

Found it!

I took some stuff to the local dump yesterday and asked the chaps if they had any builder' bags to make a compost heap........woooooooo hoooooo they said i could have a compost bin that had been brought in... no charge.

Everytime I go to the dump I always come back with something for the lottie......I smiled all the way home  ;D  ;D  ;D
