With all this white stuff around, I've noticed that some roofs are clear'ish of snow, some are clear for the top third and smoe roofs are quite heavily laden.

Is this all todo with loft insulation ?

Yes, there was something in the paper about this the other day. If the snow on your roof melts relatively quickly it means your roof space is not well insulated.

I seem to have a lot of time on my hands as I seem to have been looking at the roofs for the same reasons, all the roofs down my road had the snow stay put.  ???      ;D ;D ;D

Yes,one side of our roof is well-insulated and covered in snow. The other half is where we have a loft conversion so no room for much insulation and today, while we've all been out and no heating on, the snow on that part has melted- and our bedroom in the loft is b****y freezing!
