Some good pics, and some little red crosses!
You will be kept out of mischief with that to clear!  ;D

Thanks for the comments. Actually we are surprised that under the lovely Wilton carpets there is quite good soil. A bit compacted at present but hopefully better once the old spade has be used. We managed to clear about 12x8 in 4 hours yesterday and have dug it over. Took the pics of our progress and now my stupid computer is saying that the disc I have these pics stored on is not compatible with Kodakshare. I spent ages trying all ways to download the photos but gave up in the end. We are hopefully going to do a bit more clearing today

Keep the pics coming Jeanbean. The plot doesn't look too bad at all
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

Hi Spudsmummy. Thanks for the reply. Mary and I called in our Horticultural Hut on the off chance on Sunday, to find they had taken delivery of their potatoes and onions. Bought 3 different kinds. Nicola, Charlotte and Rocket, about 20 of each. We already have a 3kg bag of Wilkies Maris piper and intend to go to the East Anglia Potato day at Ipswich on 14 February. Bought some onion sets and shallots. We can't quite make up our minds exactly what to plant but will definitely be potatoes, onions , runner beans, peas, beetroot swede and some soft fruit. With any luck we hope to go over again for a few hours on Wednesday. Do you have any pictures of your plot? It is so good to have someone at the same stage to compare notes. Hopefully we shall both have a reasonable first season and something to show for our efforts in the summer/ autumn. Happy Lottying! :) :) :)

Well done for the work done and getting the pictures up ;D
You will get much more done if you stop sitting around and chatting :D
What fruit are you thinking of getting, it's worth thinking about it now so you can work out were to put them. I started of with two rasberry bushes already on the plot and now have 10 fruit trees, 3 rasberries, 3 blackcurrents, 1 red current 50 strawberries, 2 blueberries, 1 red goosberry, 1 green goosberry, 1 kiwi and 1 grape.

My original plan only had 7 fruit trees on it  :o

Nilly That is not me in the photo!  ::)It is OH and Mary leaving me to do all the digging while they have a breather. Only joking. We were all taking a well earned break. I havestrawberries at home that I want to transplant to the site and 2 blackcurrant bushes. Really also want raspberries too as I enter competitions at our society and need to make a variety of jam. Not keen on gooseberries but Mary may be so that might be one of her wants.
Spudsmummy I have taken a look at your photos. Sorry ,I didn't realise they were there. Our sites are very similar.  :) :) Ours is a 5 rod plot ,how about you? Is it just you clearing or do you have some help. OH is not a gardener infact hates it but he is willing to give a hand with shifting stuff for short periods. Best of luck with the project. We hope taht the weather will allow us to get over there again tomorrow even if we clear away the few brambles that are there. Little and often is our motto :D :D

Great progress Jean. You have certainly made improvements quickly. Looking forward to seeing more pics.

i will keep and eye on ur progress and compare notes. i hope the sun shine where u are too.

Hi Spudsmummy. The coincidences kept on coming. Mary and I have a grandson of 2 1/2 called Archie. He is an outside boy.  Wants to be out whatever the weather. I look after him 2 days a week and we intend to take him with us. He is also car mad so today OH and I are of to Ispwich-about 80 miles- to get a shed for lottie ( £89 for a 6x4 well made). We will set up a table for him inside to 'play cars' when he gets bored of digging. I imagine that our time over there will be limited when he is with us but he did sit through a talk on chilli peppers last year. Did fall asleep half way through but at least he listened to a bit. Good luck with the progress and do keep us updated. kind regards
