I think you will find that as the value of the pound drops against other currencies, all these electrical good that are made abroad will go up.

We also got a new TV last week. My old one the tube went to the big screen in the sky on Christmas Eve, so until the new one 32" etc etc arrived it was peering at the portable.Got mine from a local shop at sale price with a 5 year guarantee. My old one lasted 6 years, typical aint it.

you might have got some more off, but i think you did well it could be if you would have waited they may have knocked off a bit more but i doubt it would have been a lot.

So far my experience has been that if you want something that gets good reviews ( ie which or the like) or has decent features, the credit crunch makes no difference & the age & lack of empowerment of most assistants means no bargaining opportunity.  They had the telly I was after in a well know chain with a deal on a DVD recorder if you bought the two together.  I was after the same make of recorder, but a much higher spec & when I enquired it was no, deal on that model only.  The fact that I was trying to spend over £100 more on the recorder had no impact at all, no offer, no bargaining, nothing.  Haven't boght either yet ( ok, that's also impacted by my credit card being cloned last weekend & having no plastic).  Will wait & see anyway
is it in the sale?

My wife and I usually view the TV from about 6 to 7 feet, so I bought a 19" LCD from ALDI £149.99. Tesco's were £199.99. If I want to watch something different I have a 15" portable CRT in the office (with freeview box. Prices will come down but you can't wait forever.

If you want a bargain telly. Keep going into Marks and Sparks, then check out the managers specials. They could be different in each branch, each week . But I got a 15" with dvd and freeview for £99  plus it is also 12/240volt ideal for my caravan. They also chucked in a 3 year garantee.

\we got a 32 inch tele from currys a couple of weeks ago, was £280, which I didn't think bad, was marked as a No Brand though. No bells and whistles but does the job..
