RSJK

Hi  if anyone knows of any jobs going please let me know.
Had the best job that i have ever had in 35 years told Monday that we had just won a good new order that would see us through for at least 8 years work, and then told on Tuesday that the owners of the company were going to move all work to Italy.  To say that I am gutted is an understatement. Seems to be one step forward and two steps back for me these last few years do not know how much more i can take.

Hang in there, Richard. Better times will come again, even if it will take a while.
Encouraging cyberhug from me.

Not news I wanted to hear Richard...can't begin to imagine how you feel either :'( Well, for the time being, it's down to the Job Centre to sign on and make sure you get ALL your benefits. Please don't let this drag you under. Redundancies are going to be the name of the game I'm afraid for a while but one more thing you can well do without, I know that.

Cyber hug, Lishka

Richard please see your GP too. After all the major life events you've had recently you could be depressed?

You know, Richard, Anne's talking sense here. Remember that anti-depressants take a couple of weeks to kick in and you really have had major life upsets this past year? You need to keep strong,

only know it because it's happening to me! :-[

I've just come out the other side of the 'two week horror' and I'm so glad I saw my GP. I have bi-polar syndrome and despise taking the drugs but I know it does me good. I'm not a zombie and my ability to cope is vastly greater with medication.

All I can offer you is hugs and healing and perhaps a few seeds and a bar of chocolate? *huggles*

Sorry to hear this news, Richard. Sadly it's a story we're going to be hearing a lot, I guess. Good luck with finding something new.

Richard, the trick is to make sure you have a busy life once the job has gone.

My husband was made redundant a few years ago.He had been in the job for nearly twenty years.

Make sure you sort your finances out.Debt can be a huge problem for some people. It need not be if you see a debt counsellor.I know this as I have worked in this area in the past.

Keep busy and make sure you keep applying for jobs in the meantime.

At this time of year there are more temp jobs around.

My husband has done various temp jobs, some very different to what he was used to doing but doing something, anything is the answer.

We do not dwell on what it WAS like,we look to each day differently.

I promise you that with a positive attitude you will cope with this.

Good luck. :)

Sorry to hear that m8, We are going through a re-structure at work and some maybe out of a job. I was one of the last in, so could be first out.
It's for the local goverment so they take ages, it's been over a year so far.

I always look on http://www.jobsgopublic.com/ as you can search just for the area's you are interested in and once you register your details are stored, so it saves typing it all in again when applying for another job.

Best of luck.

Neil

I believe Credit Risk Assesses are in great demand at the moment, and there are vacancies working for Job Centres due to increasing demand.

No matter what job you had before I would recommend a short spell in retail. If you dont need the money, try the numerous charity shops. The higher managerial or technical position you held, the more of a different, mind expanig world you will encounter. (ie just like the TV program -Back To The Floor).

---------------------------------

Before I was out of work I would look down on basic shop work (being an office based manager) as low paid, boring work for those with limited abilities.

BUT, when the time came, I worked part time in Tesco and for a charty shop a couple of days a week.
Not only did I find it great fun, but also gave me a insight into dealing with customers day-in day-out, particularly unhappy ones.

It was the best man-management training I'd ever had - forget all those expensive courses.

AND it helped me get a 'proper' (& better, & more money) job about 6 months later.

I reckoned that 6 months of 'basic' retail experience geva me many insigths that very few other managers have.

Also, if you haven't updated your CV for a few years, get some professional help with it.

If your made redundant, your (ex-) employer should supply this, if not then ask at the Job Centre.
