Is it okay to plant two different types of butternut squash in one raised bed? Would they cross pollinate?

They will cross with any other type of squash/courgette/marrow/pumpkin, our site manager has five differant squashes/marrows growing on the same plant

It will only matter if you want to save and use the seed though - it will not effect the eating quality of the squash.

Duke, squash fall into 5 families.. they will cross within their own family but not outside of it. So yes , if you plant two types of butternuts they will cross, but you can plant different types of squash without problems,,well five types anyway, You just need to know what family the squash you fancy belong too.

I can help with you with that if you know the names.

Both Maxima Duke, they will cross., however all butternuts are Moschata so you could plant one of them with either of your other two choices.XX Jeannine

Mmm, I feel obliged to point out that the comments that summer squash etc are all pepos is actually incorrect, there are summer squash that are not pepos and their are many squash called pumplkns that are not either..only the true pumpkin is a pepo and this "" true pumpkin" is confusing for many folks.

This ia a little bit of info that gives the wrong impression.
