Can't recall where we spoke of pegs before - & I volunteered 'my' sort.

The other good ones ar the 'trident' shaped ones - but v expensive.

The no-no ones are these - [attachment=4]

They have to go through the material - & then just try to get them out!!

Are these to peg netting down.   I just make giant fish hooks by chopping up wire coat hangers.   Or am I missing something here.

tim

Yes.

No - if that works for you, fine. I find that even barbed pegs can pull out of soft ground if it gets a bit breezy. Wire pegs more so.

You know ground staples, shaped like a U, legs about 5" long? I use them for holding down weed cover and they certainly don't come out however windy it is - but I'm stingy with them because I find them expensive.

Looking round a Scottish allotment recently, we found the husband makes these for his wife (the gardener) and they are equally strong and clinging, she says.

My husband has ordered a delivery of wire (hope it's very heavy) and is going to make me lots, he says. It involves vices and hammers and right angles and really strong wire cutters, none of which I have. I have tried thinner wire, but it's too flimsy.

I find a bit of 3" x 1" wood laid along the edges works fine! ;)
You couldn't make it up!

3"x1"? Don't believe it!!

Even 3' lengths would be seen off by the winds we get. As are many deep pegs.

I use 8 ft or 10ft lengths along the sides of the beds, 4ft across the beds.(Hardwood offcuts from a joinery)
