Grape cuttings

I have 2 sturdy grape cuttings - Foster's seedling - if anyone wants them let me know as I'm sure they will post ok if kept damp and wrapped well - don't need anything in return

I've always fancied growing grapes :o are these eaters? what do they need? space/conditions?

 ;D so glad, sorry I didn't reply earlier - don't forget to water well for when you are away - mine is absolutely full with grapes, they need thinning but this takes a lot of time and patience

yes it is an eater, very sweet and abundant - I grow mine in the greenhouse in a large tub (an old waste paper bin which is about 12" across and 14" deep

there are many grape varieties and pruning methods to choose from - depending on your location they can be grown outside (I guess birds would devour them though)

yes they can but you'll have to do a search on the best way of pruning - it has a specific name and for the life of me can't think of it for now - will try to have a look in my notes

Are your grapes big ones like the supermarket. Mine are only the size of 5p coin. I keep hoping every year that they might grow bigger, but they never do. I do give them plenty of water.

mine need about another 4 or 5 weeks before harvesting - don't over water but maybe feed earlier in the year to give them a boost - you might need to prune it better  :-\

For standard pruning the german Trier Wheel method is suggested but I can't find anything on a search engine for this but basically it means letting a single cane grow to about 4ft then establishing a wheel like structure on which the laterals can be trained and so you get about 4 bunches per cane - if you check out ordinary pruning for grapes for a standard shape I'm sure you'll find something.

Hi Calendula just got back from 2 weeks away and the grape cutting you sent me is over twice the size it was when i left, i have kept it indoors at the mo until im sure where to put it cos got some upheaval in the garden but its awesome thank you so much

Calendula - coudl you tell me how you took your cuttings and what kind of nurturing they need?
