Help-poorly Gaura

I have grwon Gaura from seed this year and have posted before that there is no sign of flowers. On closer inspection today, I found that some of the top leaves (or they could be buds) are distorted and/or eaten and there are some tiny red insects on the stems. Anyone know what these could be and what I should do about them? I'll be really disappointed if my Gauras are goners, as they are one of my favourite plants.
