Hose dear !

I know this is the wrong forum to post on, and I'm sorry, but it's the most useful forum around, plus we're a friendly bunch!  ;D

I'm after a hose connector for my kitchen tap.  Unfortunately it's a mixer tap and it's big.  I've tried the largest Hozelock adapter that uses the large jubilee clip but this is still not big enough in diameter and depth.  I can't use the one that clamps on either as the tap us a large upside down U shape.  Can anyone help before my arms stretch beyond use from carrying cans and cans of water!

Is your kitchen sink fitted on an outside wall?

If so fit a 'tee' to your cold supply pipe,drill a suitable hole in the wall to the outside,push a piece of ½" (12mm)  pipe through the hole then fit a bib tap on the end of this finally connect the other end to the 'tee'.

With a bit of additional pipe you could also consider fitting a stop valve to isolate indoors from outdoors if needs be. eg. during the winter months.

Then you have no need to come into the house with your mucky boots as you will have your very own outdoor water supply.

This is how I overcome the same problem, in my case I connected to the washing machine cold supply in the utility room.

No such luck I'm afraid.  Garden is at the back of the house and the kitchen is at the front.   :(

i have a mixer tap and a hose adaptor for it it looks like this and fixes easily on my square chunky mixer tap

Hi PJ, you say your kitchen is at the front of the house. Is your bathroom at the back? Because Tee Gee's suggestion of a tee to an outside tap is probably the best.

I had one of  those adapters Debs, it always sprayed so I ended up with a soaking wet kitchen. Wasn't quite the right size for the tap I think. They do work well though if the fit exactly ;)

a self cutting kit is available which is used for washing machine taps. these are the same thread as most outside taps and hose fittings (and you get a valve) ;D

I think the people who built my house were either a) daft or b) had the plans upside down.  The Bathroom is in the middle of the house with no outside wall!

Perhaps I should move and the only specification would be the house must have an outside tap.  Then again, knowing my luck, I'll move then there'll be a hose pipe ban!

Not knowing how big your house does not help but can you not run a hose over the top of the house secured to the walls, then just put an extention onto it when required

An outside tap, and toilet was a major selling point when we bought this house with an allotment at the bottom of the garden!!  :)

i know this might be a bit pricey, but what about getting and outside tap at the front then get 2 hose pipes and join the 2 together. i done my outside tap only cost £12.99 for the kit. from b&Q i think, cant remember.
