I would say slugs or snails when the leaf was still  tender before it unfolded.

i think i like it here :D now who can tell me how to grow my own chocolate???

Eristic

It's the origami beetle!

Actually slugs or snails have taken one bite out of the still rolled up leaf. It's so annoying but quite common.

calamityjayneuk

I know - it was "the very hungry caterpillar"  :D
When I'm not working, I'm diggin' or craftin'

sawfish

Tyranosaurus Rex perhaps? Look in your compost bins, you might find one!

Robert_Brenchley

They're best avoided; you don't want to argue with teeth that size!

organicandy

Do you have wood pidgeons around?

GrannieAnnie

You haveta admit, that's pretty fancy chewing!
The handle on your recliner does not qualify as an exercise machine.

greenstar

Calamity Jane - you beat me to it - that's exactly what I was thinking.

daileg

sorry i got it wrong isnt it froghoppers that destroy everything like this

sawfish

Sorry Daileg but I just cant take gardening tips from Kurt Cobain seriously. Its like Alan Titchmarsh presenting 'Rappers Cribs' or something like that on MTV.

;D

Rhubarb Thrasher

he presents everything else..............

Robert_Brenchley

It's not a leaf miner. They eat out the central layer of tissue in a leaf, leaving the top and bottom layers, so if you hold it up to the light you can see the 'mine' with the grub in it.
