potato question

Hiya Im a total novice so please forgive this question if its really silly
Do I wait for the flowers on my potato plants to die off before checking for my spuds?

not normally, have a "furtle" and see if there is any there. I just harvested some that haven't even flowered yet, plenty of good sized spuds, rgds, Tony
