I would start off with tree shreddings with a high percentage of green leaf if possible, then a good layer of grass cuttings, some horse manure, grass cuttings, horse manure.......building up to about 3 ft in height......Then apply a 6 inch layer of soil............Soak the shreddings at the base first

Yes it was fresh muck mixed with wood chips and straw

How big was the hole dear Liza, dear Lisa?......................

How much poo in hole dear mrf?................. alot depends on volume, but Im sure you know that ;)

I was born with nothing and have most of it left.

Hmm  i dug down about 18 inches ish, about 2.5 foot across about 3 to 4 foot in lenth filled the hole, plus about 1 foot to 18 inches above ground level then placed the soil back over it all which would be at least 6 inches
thick, Next time im up there ill take a photo.

It was more in the nature of an experiment  than a serious "I really need a hotbed" But if it worked the next one would be.....Dear lisa Dear lisa.

we dug some 3 weeks ago, filled and covered, we won't be planting into them for another 3 weeks, melons and cucumbers in the poly, the heat in there makes it heat up quicker as well  ;D
