I went to London yesterday with my grand-daughters and it was freezing! Standing on London Bridge in a howling gale, it could have been deepest winter!

Just hope my onion sets won't rot- it was pretty wet when I out them in and it's got colder and wetter since! :(

Tommorow, come hail, rain, snow, sun, thunder, mizzle or gales my early spuds ARE going in - along with some carrots and parsnips...

Still - this time last year the battle with the weeds had already started, even they are late this year.

This time last year we had our hanging baskets out and had been eating asparagus for a week!

(But last April was the warmest ever since records began, ie. the 1660s!)

Was lovely at our allotment this afternoon, but then it is fairly sheltered.  Came away with my face all flushed because of the sunshine, but  then on the walk home started to feel a bite in the air again.  :) busy_lizzie

after getting sunburnt a few weeks back we lasted erm, well, not long today b4 the kids got back in daddys car (5mins tops) and i just about planted 2 fruit bushes and some sweetpeas b4 i got heckled into the car to go home and make lunch, siiigh, we hadnt been for 2wks and i got a total of 20mins in! shamefull! our allotment is exposed, so the wind rattles across so i wasnt suprised the kids didnt last (theyre only 2 and 4) and the big kid got back in the car at the earliest opportunity, much to the amusement of the brave few! hurry up summer! im running out of space indoors! ;D
i think i like it here :D now who can tell me how to grow my own chocolate???

Finally got everything done that i wanted - early spuds in, parsnips in, carrots in, dug up last years remaining parsnips... i might even have a second go later. Not too wet even after loads of rain yesterday.

Well I planted all my seeds into my allotment last week, and now I'm regretting it. In went my spuds, carrots, parsnips, kholrabi, cabbage, lettuce, beetroot, onions, spring onions, radish, brussells, brocolli and a load of other stuff. Then I read that most of 'em shouldn't be planted out until night time temperature is not consistantly less than 5 degrees C. We're still having hard frosts and ice on the pond!!!!!

Have I wasted £40 on seeds by planting this early, or will they stay in the ground and come up when it's warmer?

caseylee

It's been quite warm nere, and things seem to be sprouting at last.

GrannieAnnie

It is supposed to get colder here by mid-week.  I may have to dig up my tomatoes and put them back in the coldframe!  That would be a first ::)
