hiya, iceberg, welcome to the site, sonic thingy, I've read about them, don't remember the name, I've never tried it as I'm concerned about our dog..water pistol works, but you have to be there  :)

My wife is obsessed with keeping cats out of the garden because they frighten the birds.
If you want to grow flowers then fill every space with plants. If you want to keep them off pristine seed beds then a net is the only way.
We have tried everything from granules to water pistols (but not an air pistol - yet).
In the allotment the cats are welcome as they keep the rats away.

I spend more time netting and fencing things from my own 2 cats than I do for birds and slugs >:( :'(

im poking small sticks in the ground around plants, its not fail safe but they like to find none spikey places to go get busy,... peppers meant to be good?  and previously i mightve said get youre own cats as theyll keep others out and dont tend to use theyre own garden, only mine do... pesky little !?@~!s

And just how is a cat supposed to know which garden is which?  Perhaps they should be issued with a plan of the neighbourhood, suitably marked with "go" and "no-go" areas.  ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

I was told that somewhere in Australia cats are only allowed out on a lead.

You could emigrate.

 :) asbean I am with you all the way regarding cats... long live cats... I have always had cats for pets (and dogs) and I have two cats now which I adore.... but I do sympathise with people and how fed up they get with some of our beloved cats habits.... especially going to the loo in other peoples gardens/allotments... and I know this something that cats do regardless of whose garden/allotment it is... to a cat its a nice piece of ground that's easily dug up and the perfect place to do what a cat has to do... but even though I am a cat lover and owner, I realise people do need to deter them from destroying/damaging plants/crops etc..... so if we can find a way to deter a cat humanely from 'performing' where he or she is not welcome then all well and good..... I spend a lot of time deterring next doors cats from my garden as do next door do deterring my cats from their garden... as it seems ones own cats never uses ones own garden.. well in most cases anyway.... but again regardless of this I will always love cats and I will always have cats has pets....... long live cats!!!
