Why not, please?

Georgie

I'd say you can plant the cucumbers up to their seed leaves but be careful how you do it because they don't like root disturbance.

Because it woulld rot the stem they only root from the bottom. Unlike toms and chillis they develop roots alway down the stem. Hairy little b***ers.

When you pot on your ucumbers always do it so they are on the top of a pyramid or heap the soil up to the back of the pot so the plant is that little bit higher than the watering level this will avoid stem rot.

Does the same go for Melons?

northener

Yes Barnowl. The varied selection of chillie seeds you sent me have come up trumps they all germinated i have a lovely selection. Just don't know what they are. Thanks again. Melon and cucs prone to stem rot so keep base of stem dry.

Thanks for the advice and I'm glad the chillis have done well. If you pop some photos online once they fruit, I could have a guess as to which ones are which  :)
