Nasties in seed compost

A few days ago, we put some sunflower seeds in loo rolls with new seed compost from Focus. The seedlings have come springing up, and are really healthy.

BUT...

This morning, there were slug trails all over them :o

They've been on my kitchen table ever since I put them into the compost, so the slugs aren't climbing up the table legs. Real bummer having to put anti slug stuff in a seed tray >:(

Wanna bet!  Go and put the light on in the middle of the night. I had some mystery slug trails in one house I had.

I came down for a drink one night and found the biggest slug I have ever seen. It had squeezed  through a  gap in the skirting.

We had the same in one of our previous homes. We couldn't work out how they did it, the gap between the floor and the skirting was really small but they manage to flaten themselves to squeeze through. just leave the light off for an hour or so then sneak up on them,  ;)
