cats in my raised bed

a cat has turned my new raised bed into a litter tray/sleeping area. How do I stop it from coming back. I've got some green fine mesh netting and some pegs to hold it taut. Will this do the trick or do I need something sturdier?

I use that and the plastic green or brown large squared stuff that you can use for climbers to scramble up. Fine mesh does work though as long as its taut to soil level, I use bricks and tent pegs.

One of mine will struggle underneath if there's a gap or loose at the bottom. I spend more time protecting my beds from my own cats than I do birds, bugs or any other wildlife >:(

Apparantly lemonade bottles half filled with water and laid on their sides deters cats as well. But I dont know how true that is.

A good water pistol might be a good plan ;D ;D ;D

Apparently lion poo is good for deterring cats.

Where you get it from is another matter, unless you have a local zoo.  ;D

Actually Im sure you can buy it mail order, its quite expenny though I think.

I find holly does the trick! :o  And have heard of bamboo kebab skewers planted works well too! (even BIGGER OUCH!)

Citrus peel is a good deterrent, just pushed slightly into the soil.  Or ground red pepper sprinkled over it.

My ex hubby bought one of these, and stopped me purchasing one as he says it doesnt really work that well.  But that was just his opinion.

Only thing I have found that works is kebab sticks and throwing water at them.

They don't like walking on aluminum foil or loose crinkle paper. I used to have a friend that put empty cans in among her seedlings, laid on the side with wood strips over the top like see saws, she swore after a while the cats found somewhere else as they were always stumbling ????

have you tryed C/DS around the plants the cats do not like the shine of the C/DS l have tryed this with my plum tree

 :-\ I have two cats of my own and my neighbour also has two cats... the neighbours cats use (if they get the chance!!) my garden for a toilet and my cats use our neighbours garden for a toilet!!(cats apparently never like to soil in their own territory??) I also have a dog (my neighbours don't) our dog has a great relationship with our cats... but hates the cats next door so if he ever catches them in our garden he chases them off... so they do not use our garden for a toilet as much as they would like... so my dog is a great deterrent.... Another tip I have come across is to dedicate a small part of your garden to growing catnip, so that the cats concentrate on that area only and leave the rest of your garden alone.... well that's the theory anyway!! Could give it a try and see if it works. I do know that my cats adore catnip and will spend ages rolling amongst it. One of my cats finds it so intoxicating he has to go for a kip to sleep off the effects of the cat nip experience!!!!
