Do I plant my 100 free bulbs now? What did you do with yours?

By now most people should have received the recent offer of 100 free bulbs. Due to the bad weather of late, mine have not yet been planted.

1)  Is there still time for them to grow if sown this week?
2)  Will they be OK if I put them straight in the ground in this cold spell?

I don't want to leave it too late so they go to waste.  What did you do with yours?

Plant them. I'm not sure what they are, but even if it's not the proper season, they'll still grow.

I have not put mine in yet it will be about 2 weeks before i get around to planting them as i still need to dig over the beds in the back garden and bring in more soil but i think that if i wait the soil will be warmer and the bulbs will have less chace of rotting.

I put some cheap daffs in last January (07) and they flowered late but have come up at the right time this year!
;D

ah but does your garden had about 1/2 inch of standing water  ;)

I have not been able to go out the back garden for the last month as i think i might just sink  ;D

I was wondering the same. The bulbs are "sparaxis"
                                                                   "ranunculus"
                                                                   "anenomes"
                                                                   "Ixias"
I have some sparaxis which I planted in a large pot , and did very well . Sorry to hear you are under water cambourne7 I hope it dries out soon

Thanks its one of the problems with clay its can only absorbe so much water then it just sits on the top.
I have to go out with a fork and go over the grass and borders to help let it dry out but its just 2 wet at the moment.

I've just put some ranunculus and anemone to soak overnight and I've put a couple of Ixias and Sparaxis in pots for my mum and grandma just to see how they do.  Might plant mine out this weekend, if I can keep the d**n dog off my flower patch!

what free bulbs are these?

I think they were freebies from a paper or magazine, my friend got some last year. At least I presume thats what these guys got too ;)
I was born with nothing and have most of it left.

Someone posted a link to an offer. Quite a lot of us got the bulbs, but then they took the offer off (probably fed up of sending packs out to A4A members ;D)

I've put mine into pots and they are sitting outside the greenhouse.  I'm not really expecting anything to come up just yet.  I soaked the ranunculus and anemones for two days (couldn't get back to them as early as I wanted) and wow did they swell up.  If - sorry, when - they do come up, I shall plant the whole lot as a clump into the garden when they have finished flowering.

Only just put mine in soak today, my best friend planted hers in pots last week and they are all poking through, she kept them in her plastic greenhouse.  Speeded them along by the looks of things :)
