hello all some of you might of all ready seen this posting but for those who haven't its all about two chaps on our site one is an allotment holder the other is his friend who comes down to help him.
well it has come to light that they are both sex offenders one is on the sex offenders register (the friend) and the other one was in court last Monday for abducting a minor,he wasn't sent to prison because the police didn't serve some papers on him within a given time space so he walked free.
we have informed our council (for what good its done), written to our local news paper (brick wall), we don't have a committee or anything like that so i thought we could get a petition together but this is where i need help i don't know any thing about them and how many signatures do i need and also the wording on it. Ive never done one before so i don't know how to go about starting one.
Also behind the site is a scout hut which is only used in the summer they do know about the sex offenders and have said they would get in touch with our council but will it do any good?

most of the offenses were against children but the one who has the allotment also attacked a female(his sister) and I'm very worried as when he goes past my plot he stops and stares ,i don't know if its at me or the scout hut behind me but it scares me ,he never says anything just looks and I'm  worried that he might have ideas about me so now i don't go down unless i know my neighbour is there.I think its awful that i don't feel safe on my own down there.

so if any one could give me some help with wording and stuff i would be more than grateful also is there any allotment law that prevents these type of people holding allotments. We are getting desperate as we just seem to come a blank with every one we have talked to so any ideas

Creepy!  I don't know much about petitions I'm afraid, but I do know that when you do one, each additional page after the first one must have the reason for the petition at the top of the page before any signatures are placed on the page.  I'm sure someone will post shortly about what to do and how. Good luck.

Does your Allotment association have a set of rules?

Hi, I don't know if i will be any help and i may offend but i dont mean to. Just giving you another way to look at the situation.
As you now have the knowledge that this person is a sex offender and also the local scout group do, i would look at this as a blessing. At least you have the information and are able to protect yourself accordingly. There are sex offenders out there they could be living next door but you dont know. I would rather have the knowledge so you can maybe, go to this person with a couple of friends and say "we know what youve done and any hint of unappropriate behaviour and we'll be straight to the police" be doing that you are saying to this person that if anything happens to you or children in the area they will be top of the suspect list. If the person is frightened off the chances are whereever he moves onto locals will be ignorant of the fact and more vurnerable.
I know this isn't much of a comfort but at least you know the enemy and they are not hidden. knowledge is power, ignorance is not bliss.

I thought you were at Boultham/Altham Terrace.  If so, I am a member of your association despite being up at Wragby Road (and on the committee there)  I needed to join the association to use the shop located at the gate.
