Alton treatment

Hi, does anyone know what cerarwood is best treated with to protect and resist water?

I have a Alton 8' x 15' greenhouse that is 10 years old and is about to be rebuilt but would like to treat it first.

Thanks

Many years ago we had a cedarwood greenhouse.  We treaded it with Cuprinol.

Alton themselves just say "use a good spirit based timber preservative" after three months and then every other year.

Have to admit mine is now three and a half years old and I've only ever treated it with anti fungal (Armillatox).

It's now gone that rather nice grey colour but perhaps I should give it a treat this year  :)

its about 10+ years old so pretty weather worn now, I travelled 560miles to collect its after getting it off ebay for £150. was a story in itself but its time to put it all back together after spending 8 months drying out.  I have started the Teak Oil process and then will apply a good preservative finish to seal that in - thats the plan anyway.

Just wish I had realised that they needed treating - ours is starting to crumble.

But that's after 30 years.

wow 30yrs! I think they are safe for 5-10yrs but then they need some help....incredible wood really.

Ours is 20 years old. We treat the outside with linseed oil every couple of years, but I don't think the inside has ever been treated (other than the annual wash & brush up).
