This year I'm going to try a onion set  called Red Karmen in the hope that they will not bolt like Red Baron as done for the past two years.Anybody tried them before?

Not tried them, but i had the same problem with Red Baron, but unlike you I just bought 100 sets.

Tell me how you get on.

yep, we've just bought 250 grammes, red karmen, however many that is, from wilkies for 1.00, our red baron have bolted the last 2 years  :-\

My Red Baron didn't bolt but I put them out quite late - on 9th April  - on the grounds that it's warmer here in London.

On the other hand they didn't get particularly large.

I paid £2.50 for mine from a garden centre. :'(

Good suggestion - my red baron bolted, and didn't get very big...
