BB 2  last night, any one watch ?

Fascinating wasn't it.

Having chooks in the garden, we've seen a lot of the behaviour before (like introducing newbies) but the analysis and interpretations were fascinating.

One thing that really caught me, was that chooks were good to domesticate because they have their own pecking order.

To those that missed it, the gist of it was that 'cos they position themselves in a hierarchy, they're not always fighting over food.  That gives them a natural, stable structure that humans can take advantage of.

Not sure I explained that well.

Best bit was the difference between introducing the 'feminised' rooster (who had lived as a female, only with females all of his life) into his 'hareem', and the introduction of the two free range males in with their ladies.  Worlds apart.

I saw the programme too and really enjoyed it. 

I didn't know chickens ate frogs though I have seen mine running around with mice in their beaks and then swallowing them whole.   :o

I'm going to watch it later on iplayer, if it's any good I'll gather the chooks of the allotment and we can all watch it together.
