Galvanised Water Troughs

My allotment site has replaced the water supply piping to the limited number of water troughs it already owns.    However we now need to buy further galvanised water troughs to make life much easier for the plot users.   Does anyone know of a supplier of these troughs...... they look like cattle/horse water troughs.   Your help would be much appreciated as my arms are visibly stretching.   I already collect rain water from the shed roof, but this supply soon runs out in a dry spell.

Your profile doesn't say which part of the country you are from, have you tried the agricultural merchants, in the south it would be SCATS,

My council has removed all the troughs from the allotments when they put the
new water supply in.
I think this has something to do with the water regulations and uncovered water.
Possibly to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes and the diseases they carry.

Would legionnaires disease be spread too, or is it not hot enough?

I am in east anglia (cambridge) the place i am trying to remember the name of is in st.neots.

Were adding to each trough the same cystern thats in toilets to allow them to be filled automatical. Were next to a lake so mossies are not going to be a problem.

We have them on our site - in the front of my plot (not the mint tank in the back  :) ) - I'll be seeing my Lottie Lady tomorrow and will ask her.  Each has their own isolation stopcock and they have covers made by our lovely chairman but the water's turned off now and won't be back until March/April.

Legionnaires' disease wouldn't be a problem as it's caught by inhaling water droplets; Legoinella is very common, but it takes an unusual situation before it can get into your lungs and make you ill. You've got to get fine droplets of infected water into the air before anyone can get it, and that's not going to happen with a water trough. The classic situation is a cooling or air conditioning system with an infested water reservoir.

My allotment is in Northampton.   

I googled the internet for hours, not really sure what words to search with.   However I eventually discovered a local company in Southam - Banbury Farm and General Supplies and a larger supplier LM Batement in Cheddleton, Staffs - just in case anyone else is looking for such suppliers.   

We now need to seek permission from the local council to install these troughs.

Are you having to buy these troughs?  I thought they were hugely expensive?!

I have an old bath which works brilliantly and I fill it from my HUGE very cheap factory damaged oil tank which in turn I collect the water from a row of council garages roofs.

We have a couple of these troughs but the council charged one of our old guys a heck of a lot of money to instal the second one near his plot!

By the way I think Legionairres disease is an indoor germ which is spread through heating/ventilation systems!

We have installed water toughts om our allotments, they cost £140.00 each. We did the plumbing oursleves, We obtained them in abergavenny
