I hate sticky labels, I know where I purchased it, I know who made it, I do not want to have adverts all over my house, garden and tools. B&Q ones are the worst. If you have drunk all the meths and need to get rid of one quick, here's my tip. Use the cheap aftershave the kids got you at xmas. My next tip is even more important. Don't ask your wife to use her 'cheap perfume'!

Totally Agree!

Why is it that companies always have a label that doesn't completely come off when you have bought something as a gift for someone!

WD40 usually works, but then your thing smells a bit funny and is a bit oily  ::)

Oh dear Ace, you in touble again..... ;)

I know what you mean though, drives me mad.  And at least jam jar labels used to soak off but even they are glued on hard now....  plays havoc with the nails.... ;)

Sticky Stuff Remover from Lakeland is brilliant for really sticky labels, leaves a nice cirtus smell too. (It really is called that!)

If the item is not heat sensitive, then melting the glue with the hairdryer sometimes works

OMG this drives me bonkers too  :o  I especially hate it when it's the labels on the bottom of shoes  ;) - nasty  ;)

I usually use nail varnish remover, works a treat  ;D

When making chutney recently, I found that a wire scrubber (is that what it's called?) did a good job on jam jar labels which didn't come off in the dishwasher.

OliveOil

i recently put jars in the dishwasher and then wondered what the 'chewing gum' was at the bottom when i was emptying - the glues had literally turned to gum - urrgggh

Standing the jars in boiling water usually does it for me
