Pumpkin plants rotted. Is there time to restart?

Hello.

Longtime not post.

With all the wet weather we have had our pumpkin plants have rotted. Is there time to start again from seed or is it a case of try again next year :(

we sowed some ghost pumkins seeds on the 14th june and they are doing great.
i would give it a go as there is nothing to lose

just been to our garden centre, they have quite a lot of well grown, healthy looking pumpkin plants in, might be worth a look ?  :)

Sow asap.  You won't get mammoth pumps, but there is no reason why you shouldn't get good sized fruits.

My cobnut squashes were munched last year and I had to start again from scratch about the middle of July. The plants seemed to catch up quickly without any hint of powdery mildew which affected earlier sown pumpkins and squashes and by the autumn I had a number of usable size fruits. Give it a go. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

If you are doing a squash go for Avalon Butternut, it matures  about a month before all the other Butternuts .XX Jeannine

Thanks for the replys. The last pumpkin had rotted off as the plot turned into a quogmire.

I have put some seed to germinate today on window sill then I will put them into small pots on the window sill where is it warm and grow them om quick.

I will also wait until the ground is not so wet it is water logged at the moment.

Thanks Jeannine - mixture of cold/wet and slugs my pumpkins, squashes and courgettes have all gone soI'll get sowing Avalon butternut this week.
