Deb,

thanks for all the info. It must be really interesting being a midwife. Fancied it myself once, but I think I'm a bit too old now ::)

Here's hoping we dont get a 'Silent Night' tonight ;D

Absolutely nothing! :-\

I feel really bad for Naomi. She was so convinced he was on his way, and now it looks like he has decided not to be born at all. ::)

Every time the phone rings, I hope it is Naomi.

Still, cant be long now. I will let you know as soon as things start again.

At this rate, all the first size baby clothes will be too small!! He'll be born asking for a sandwich and with the beginnings of facial hair :o

Hopefully back with some news soon.

funny thing, both my sons were a week late and both induced, my daughter was only 2 days late, 3 hours start to finish and she was the second birth, I just think lads like being looked after by their mums and all nice and cosy  ;D

carolinej

Naomi was exactly on my dates. Then Nathan was 6 weeks early, Tim was 4 weeks early. I wondered if this was going to follow a pattern, which it did, as Joe was 2 weeks early. I'm not going to try again to see if the next one is back to being on time ;D

She is going for Christmas Eve, I bet you, wasn't that the original date

Give her some more hugs, it can be depressing I know.

My first was 10 days late then induced, my second 2 weeks then induced, my third a week then induced, same with my fourth, number 5 was induced 6 weeks early and number 6 they induced on the due date. I don't apparently go into labour, some defective bit in  me. I tied everything imaginable to try to start on my own and believe me there are a lot of old wives tales out there, but nothing worked, even when they popped my water I didn't go into labour, I always needed the pituitrin stuff before my body started, this is what my body doesn't make enough of I am told.

Hang in there Caroline I suspect you are going to have an extra special busy Christmas Eve.

God Bless and keep in touch.

PS I have tries to get you on the MSN thingy , it says you are there, but I don't think my messages are reaching you.

Best of luck! My little gift is now 8 weeks and I can't believe where it's gone! I can hear him gurgling next door (having been stuffed with his 10pm feed). I still feel a bit like I cheated by having to have a caesarian, but I don't really care - he was born safely which is what counts!

oops loud gurgles now, better go and see what's up!

You carried your little bundle of joy for nine months and had a pretty hard time of it i think so i dont think you can in any way be described as a cheating!! First christmas with baby is special isnt it? I wonder whats happening with Naomi.....

Deb P

Well it was a busy Christmas Day for births for me yesterday, there were 5 babies born before I had even started my shift yesterday morning, and we were steadily occupied all day, I think we had about another 10 births in my 12 hour shift. Nice day though, we still managed to have nice cooked brekkie together, albeit at 11.45 'coz we were too busy before that! ;D
If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴

Well, still no baby! Naomi was on the monitor yesterday, as baby had been much more active than usual, so midwife suggested they check everything was ok. Baby was fine, 2 small contractions while she was on the monitor, and then she came home.

She's not even feeling twinges.

Looks like he could be a spring baby, lol.

will keep you posted.

She's been booked in for induction Saturday night, so hopefully Sunday if all goes well. We're going away on Tuesday for a few days, so I am really hoping he's here by then. If not, we will cancel going away, as I want to be here for Naomi.

I suppose there's always hope he'll come of his own accord before then ::)

Well, Naomi rung at 3am to say she thought things had started. 20 mins later, she rung to say she was off to the hospital. 4am we had a call to say her waters had gone, she was in labour but had to go home till contractions were 1 min long every 3 mins. As she had driven herself to hospital (I thought she had phones for an ambulance!!) she tried to drive home but was in too much pain, so could we go to pick her up.

When we got there, she was lying on the car seat, in terrible pain and very distressed and frightened. I calmed her and Tom down, and 15 mins later managed to get her to the toilets in the hospital reception. There was quite a lot of blood, so I sent Tom to ring the ward to tell them I wasnt happy and wanted her back on the ward. They said ok and we took her up.

The midwife was concerned at the blood loss, and so took bloods incase a caesarean was necessary. The consultant was called. He said it was the result of the speed of the labour, and that things were well under way.

She was really fast until at 8am, she was fully dilated, but the contractions slowed and became mild. She was put on a drip at 8.40, and Ieuan arrived at 9.50.

He is 9 lb 6 oz 55cm long and gorgeous ;D ;D

I stayed throughout, as Naomi was really frightened, and Tom was quite shook up too. It was amazing. My first birth at the business end!!!

So much for getting a phone call when it was all over. Still, I'm really glad I was there.

They are keeping her in tonight because of the blood loss, but she will be ok to come home tomorrow.

Thanks for all your support and wishes.

cj :)
