.....so wanted to see if it is okay to plant anything in it, other than aliums of course.

Have spinach, kohl rabi and kale all in pots, all waiting to fill gaps.  Will the white rot in the soil harm these plants?  Is there anything I can do to the soil to make it feel a touch better before planting?  I have some lovely compost from my home compost heap I was thinking of digging into this patch, will that help?

Nothing else seems to mind. 'Norstar' is supposed to be less affected.

If it's on your garlic, wash them well so that the spores aren't spread by drying?? Leave the row allium free for 7 years. Or try the Armillatox trick. I'll report on ours when we see the result. = Tim

PS Have you looked at HDRA's fact sheet?
PPS I see it's not on the garlic - lucky you! Interesting that overwintered stuff is more likely to get it. All our onions & garlic were spring planted, so maybe there's hope yet.

My shallots were winter planted along with garlics and Sutton onions.  The onions, as you saw, are great and growing by the day, but I shall keep an eye on them.  The garlics started really well, slowed during the cold weather, but then went nuts again and got smothered in rust, but not all of the varieties.  The Elephant and I think the solent wight and totally unaffected by rust.  Okay, will get some compost in and start replanting the patch with my winter veggies.

Tis a pain in the bum huh Tim, I shall be interested to see if you have cured the problem using Armillatox.
