Sister-in-law has just spoken to me and she said that her runner bean leaves seem to be very pale green. I had noticed that mine don't seem as dark green as other years. We both grown Enorma. Mine had plenty of rotted horse manure put in trench before planting. Any ideas folk?

Even dug a trench this year but we've the same problem of sadly pale beans (Enorma and Enorma Elite).

Have just hit them with a heavy liquid feed on advice of a neighbouring lottie keeper.

Put 'em in too early, ground a bit cold or wet etc.......my dwarf french beans are the same.

The runners and climbers I put in 2 weeks ago, however, are going great guns and have set off at a fair gallop. You could almost watch 'em growing......  ;D
I hoe, I hoe, then off to work I go.

Yellow leaves can be a sign of too much nitrogen......could have been a little to much manure.

They should still be ok though.
You can pick your friends, and you can pick your nose, but you can't pick your friends nose

Thanks for replies. The leaves don't seem to be "yellowing" they just look a much paler green than othe years. Sister-in-law lives in Kent I am in Cambs, I wondered it it is anything to do with the weather this year. Hope you are right Fork that they will be OK>

Ours are quite pale her in Derby... didn't put them out until last weekend but it has turned cold and damp so they are sulking...
