Rotten garlic

As most of you know, we have most pests and diseases on our allotment.  Allium white rot is the most annoying for me as I loves my hunions.  Anyhow, this year it has written off our garlic harvest.  I managed to gather these small bulbs, but they all have signs of rot, they have blackened bulbs, the root plate is slimey and the soil sticks to the bulb so they look dirty.  They will not store for more than a week or so, so what I do is clean them and blitz them briefly in my blender.  I then freeze teaspoons full in icecube trays.  When frozen these are tipped into a freezer bag or box for use as and when I need it.  Works very well and means we don't completely miss out on home grown garlic.

Great advice.

We just hope that our raised bed of fresh soil will save our day.
